GOD’S PROMISED PLAN FOR HIS CHILDREN

(Walking In God’s Will : WIGW 7)

God made a promise to His people in Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you”. declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (NIV). A declaration is an official announcement from the highest authority, and YAHWEH Himself has declared that His plans are to prosper His children and give them hope and a future. What more can we ask or hope for?

Now the question is, do we want God’s plan and will or ours? God’s good plans for us cannot be fulfilled unless we want it and determined to walk in His will. The problem is that the flesh is so strong that we easily yield to its desires. But the Word says, “Walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh” (Gal.5:16). How many of us really walk or seek to walk in the Spirit? Job made this observation in his conversation with God: "I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted” (Job 42:2). That is true only when we accept His plan for us. Before He reveals His plan to us, we must surrender to Him completely to do His will. Then we must decide to walk in faith and obedience.

The next step is to seek God and walk close to Him. That is why after giving this promise, God said, “Then you will call on Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart. I will be found of you, declares the LORD” (Jer. 29:12-14a). We cannot discover God’s plan for us unless we seek Him with all our heart. When He sees our sincerity and earnestness then He will reveal His plan for our life. That plan will be good – it will bring us prosperity, hope and a good future. This is guaranteed by YAHWEH Himself, so why are we afraid of His plan and will? Hebrews 11:6b says that He will reward all those who seek Him diligently.

God’s Plan for us will always be good because He is our Father Who loves all His children. Jesus told His disciples, “If you parents being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will you Heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask Him?” (Matt 7:11). Romans 8:32 reiterates this thought regarding God’s love for us: “If God spared not His Son for us (while we are still sinners), how much more will He not give us all things in Him that we have need of (now that we are sons).”

Faith in God and His promises is the key to fulfilling His wonderful plan and will for our life. He is the Faithful God Who keeps His covenant with His people. “Faithful is He who calls you; He also will do it” (1 Thes.5:24). But faith must begin with surrender and then translate into action in obedience. By faith we seek and surrender to God, then He will reveal His plan, and tell us what to do. Obedience must then follow for that plan to be fulfilled in our life. The result will be prosperity, hope and a great future! What more can we ask? It is offered to us on a platter. Just stretch out your hand by faith and take it. You will be blessed for life! AMEN!
